Hi, my name is Jo, and I have been teaching for 30 years now at a further education college in the North East. I have taught on a range of A Levels: English Language, English Literature and Theatre studies as well as GCSE English Language and English Literature. Alongside my teaching commitments, I was a member of the college’s teaching and learning ‘HUB’ as an advanced practitioner, where I delivered staff development to staff across college with a focus on embedding literacy within lessons. During this time, it has been a pleasure to work with so many young people, see them achieve their goals and go off to university; and often, afterwards, discover the careers they have eventually chosen. I’m passionate about English, and the power of language and its capacity to enrich our lives in so many ways and love talking about it in work and outside if it! I look forward to meeting more enquiring minds through ‘The Teaching Room’ and nurturing the same love of language that I have.
